Giovanni received his PhD at the University of Zurich and worked as a postdoc in Marseille and Vienna.

Among his research interests are the BV-BFV formalism, its application to quantum gravity, and related topics in mathematical physics, such as Poisson geometry and topological field theories.

After leaving UNIGE in February 2025, Giovanni joined the Florence section of the "Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare" (INFN) in Florence (Italy) as a postdoctoral fellow. His main focus is research about geometric and algebraic structures arising from (quantum) field theories.
